for your first trip to Japan

Real advice from someone who's been where you are.

No generic blog posts. No AI-generated guides. Just honest, local insight for the parts of travel prep that actually make you anxious.

The little things that throw off a trip

"Phone reservations only"? That's usually where it falls apart.

Calls from a foreign number often just don't get answered. If you're coming from a place where everything is booked online, this is the one thing that quietly trips people up the most.

Popular on social media doesn't always mean local.

The spots everyone's talking about online or in English-language guides are often full of tourists, not locals. And AI can only take you so far — it usually can't get you to the places that are genuinely local.

The questions no guidebook answers are the ones you actually have.

The small stuff you're not sure it's even okay to ask is usually exactly what you most want to know.

Groups welcome

Traveling with friends or family? Group bookings are welcome — just let me know your group size when you reach out.

That's where I come in.

I'm Mo. I've worked a hotel front desk in Japan, so I know exactly where travelers get stuck.

A typical chat

Traveler: Hi! I want to visit Shibuya and Harajuku on the same day — any other spots nearby, and what order should I do them in?
You: I'd start in Harajuku before 11am, since Takeshita-dori gets crowded fast. There's also Omotesando nearby for lunch. Save Shibuya for later in the day — it's about a 15-minute walk between each, all walkable.
Traveler: Okay this actually makes me feel so much more prepared, thank you!

Who's behind this

Hi, I'm Mo.

I spent 2 years living in Canada, so I know what it's like to feel lost in a new culture. I've also worked at a hotel front desk in Japan, helping international guests navigate the exact confusion you might be feeling before your trip.

I've also traveled extensively myself — across Canada, the US, Australia, Vietnam, Korea, Taiwan, and Indonesia — so I understand that anxiety from both sides: as a traveler, and as someone whose job was to ease it for others.
